Three Japanese films to be screened at the 2012 International Images Film Festival for Women in Zimbabwe

It’s not the first time that the Embassy of Japan together with Japan Foundation treat Zimbabweans to a selection of the Asian nation’s cinematic accomplishments.

Starting next week, three films from the Land of the Rising Sun will be shown at the Rainbow City on Robert Mugabe Road in Harare:

Hotel Hibiscus (2002) Nov 25 at 12:30, Nov 27 at 17:00

The Stars Converge (2003) Nov 23 at 17:00, Nov 27 at 15:00

Linda, Linda, Linda (2005) Nov 24, 26 at 15:00

Admission is free

The films will be shown as part of the 2012 International Images Film Festival for Women. IIFF was founded in 2002 by Women Filmmakers of Zimbabwe in response to the proliferation of beauty contests in Zimbabwe at that time. Each year, a selection of films is featured to interrogate, debate and celebrate the resilience of women against many odds and their contribution to society and history.

Japanese film Linda, Linda, Linda (2005) to be screened in Zimbabwe, end of 2012

This year, the festival will take place on November 23 to December, 1 in Harare; December, 6 in Bulawayo; December, 7 in Gwanda (Matabeleland South) and December, 13-14 in Binga (Matabeleland North).
